temporary insanity

on friday night, i think i went MAD, insane, siao4, totally bonkers, cuckoo and whatever else u can think of... i let linda cut, colour and highlight my hair!!!! if u think, cutting means trimming the ends, YOU ARE WRONG... it meant like seriously cutting and layering. she assured me that she had had many lessons while she was waiting for her mom at the hair salon... normal people would have given her an incredulous look and said thanks but not thanks... but me, having either developed temporary insanity or been poisoned by the dinner linda cooked, said OK. you heard that right, i said OK!!! so there i was, sitting in the toilet, with a happening Linda-designed V-necked newspaper top and with my hair and life in her hands...

we tried to capture the entire process so here it is... and here i am, having survived the ordeal to tell the tale...

BEFORE THE CUT

before the cut, I have realli long hair... by my standards at least... but it was getting extremely out of shape and long... and the weight of the long hair or sth was causing scary hair loss... it was realli quite frightening. i was getting quite apprehensive of shampooing and washing my hair...

up till the last moment, i was still rather worried... but i was trapped! in the clutches or rather the scissors of miss linda cai! somone save me, pls!!!

THE CUT BEGINS


hairdresser auntie, will i look like either of them when u finish cutting and colouring my hair??


just as every good hair salon, this one had many magazines... and i had the most recent copy of cosmopolitan to entertain myself... and as many good hairdressers who entertain their customer's deluded fantasies, hairdresser reassured me i would turn out as pretty as either eva longoria or the girl on the loreal colouring kit...

so snip snip snip went the scissors while i sat in the chair... watching every move and snip... i have to say she is quite professional despite the lack of training... but it was realli hilarious... the most interactive hairdressing experience ever... the cutting would be interspersed with "eh, can you hold the scissors for awhile ah" and then "hold that lock of hair leh... it's like falling all over the place..." after 1.5 hours, with a stiff neck and jelly legs, the cut was over... haha.. it realli did take quite long. and i was falling asleep...


THE COLOURING PROCESS

after cutting, we proceeded to make me look like the girl on the loreal colouring kit... sigh, if only i could just look like her abit more... that aside, hairdresser and me launched into our next task enthusiastically... but this loreal colouring kit is realli quite cool... step 1 is colour the whole head. and then step 2 is higlighting. and the box comes with protective gloves, bottles and mascara-like tools for highlighting...

i have to commend hairdresser on her exceedingly remarkable display of professional skills in colouring and highlighting... she did it layer by layer, very patiently... and when highlighting, she made it a point to get like small pieces of hair to create subtle highlights. she did that for the whole head... i would have died of impatience if i was doing it myself...

TADAH!!!! the new me!! 

i know the photo is abit like cannot see anything... but that's the best photo out of the many we took... i was looking damn sleepy in every other photo... the whole process took like 3+ hours... i was like falling asleep at the last part... haha... the end product was not bad! the hair cut, contrary to what many may think, is actually quite good... and the cut did me good. now i am not dropping so much hair... but the colour is a little bright.. so erm, i am trying to get used to it... haha, actually i was a little shocked coz i expected it to turn out more muted... but oh well, we will see how it goes...

so basically, that ended my rather exciting week :) and i am a really happy girl! i mentioned in my last entry that it ended on a happy note. well, i have been thinking whether i should spread the joy or be modest about it and i decided to share it!! make the world a happier and better place, u know :) haha, so indulge me, you all :) after last year's A+ for the FLT essay, i thought i will never experience such shock when collecting assignment results... hee, let me hao lian abit... it is not everyday i get an A in law school k.

the results for my international environmental law mid-term tests were released on friday... i have been worrying about it incessantly, especially after a less than pleasant shock for my law & econs assignment earlier in the week sank my confidence level to an all time low. and i slept damn badly for like 4 hours the night before this envtal law test coz of that dreadful viral cough... so while scrolling through the student id numbers for mine, i was praying like mad that "pls dun let me fail coz it's 40%"!!! and there it was, my number: scoring 80/100, making it an A!!! and i have got the second highest score after ms/mr 300061179 who got 82/100... haha... woahs!!! i was soo shocked, i checked the student id number 3 times and then still in disbelief, dug out my student card to quadruple check that i was not wrong... i am sooo happy!!! not just coz it's an A but also coz i realli quite like the course (despite the mountain of readings, as compared to the others)... so i am a happy girl :) and i am feeling all warm and fuzzy now from some sweet thing the boy said... haha

i am a free thinker and am not really a believer... but i have this psalms daily calendar on my table and on thursday, it said "He shall give thee the desires of thine heart" and on friday, it said "Trust also in him"... i must say i feel rather moved (?)... can't really put my finger on it... but well, thank you :)
